Colleen & Mitch | A Wondrous Wedding at The Brix | Carpentersville, IL

Updated: Jul 13, 2023

Two believers of "what is meant to happen will happen," Colleen and Mitch unknowingly crossed paths multiple times as they grew up living only ten minutes apart, rocking out at the same Paul McCartney concert, attending grad school at the University of Illinois, and even having friends in the same social circles as each other. But, as destiny and fate would have it, the two didn't officially meet until 2017 when Mitch "superliked" Colleen on Tinder, and the rest is history! Seriously, they even drove the exact same car, just different colors - fate decided to take it's sweet time bringing these soulmates together., but these two wouldn't have it any other way!

We started out this lovely day by capturing all of the brides accessories and details, from the intricate detailing on her heels and jewelry, all the way to the lego flowers included in her bouquet! Colleen and Mitch mentioned that building lego sets and puzzles together is one of their favorite hobbies, so seeing unique details like these throughout their wedding decorations and accessories was so exciting! (Just wait until you see Mitch's cufflinks!) Then after an emotional dress reveal with her bridesmaids and sharing a few laughs with her parents, we swung over to see Mitch!

Well, what did we say? Aren't these lego cufflinks the coolest?? Mitch even got some custom cufflinks for his dad, as well! All of these little details sprinkled in throughout the day show just how much Colleen and Mitch are connected to not only one another, but all of their friends and family that gathered to celebrate with them! After Mitch was done getting dressed and ready, it was time for him to see his captivating bride in their first look!

The ear-to-ear smiling and laughter began before Mitch had even turned around to see Colleen in her stunning dress. When we were learning about Colleen and Mitch's love story, Colleen mentioned that once they connected it felt like he was a friend she had known forever and everything was easy right off the bat - and we could definitely see that special connection not only in their first look, but in their ceremony that we headed to right after!

Colleen and Mitch's ceremony was decorated magnificently and filled with all of their closest friends and family! After sharing their vows written specially for each other, the two said "I do" and it was time to go outside on this dazzling day in May and get some photos with the bridal party!

Following the cheering and laughter and some fun poses shared with their bridesmaids and groomsmen, we captured some photos of the bride and groom alone for the first time as Mr. and Mrs. Bulow-Knapp! Another unique thing about this fantastic couple is their ability to communicate with each other through non-verbal cues, which made for some spectacular candids as we shot some photos along the Fox River!

If you couldn't get enough of the lego flowers in Colleen's bouquet, get an eyeful of the beautiful lego flower details in their tables' centerpieces, and even the cute little bride and groom lego couple! SO adorable, right?! (And, of course we had to get a couple photos of the delicious sweets specially crafted by Tasty Catering!

After sharing some toasts and cutting into their cake, Colleen and Mitch danced with their parents before stepping in time to their first dance as The Bulow-Knapps! And, as the night came to a close we celebrated with a luminous and brilliant sparkler-lined grand exit! To Colleen and Mitch, thank you for allowing us to share in your fun-filled and fantastical wedding day! It was such a unique wedding made special by all of the fun quirks and endearing qualities shared by this darling couple, and we are honored to have been the ones to capture it for you! Until we meet again, Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Bulow-Knapp!
